I am currently reading "Psycholinguistics: A Resource Book for Students" by John Field. A very thorough introduction to the field with plenty of examples of experiments/methodology.

One chapter discusses the "working memory", the "buffer" of the brain, using an analogy from the world of computing. It gives an example of a sentence which is very heavy on processing power for the average brain.
"The man the dog the cat chased bit died."
